Description

Anacom 16W KU-Band Transceiver – I can’t describe it as new, but I can say that it has never been used. The body is clean and free from scratches, the fan looks new.

This is a standard KU-Band unit, the transmit frequency is 14 to 14.5 GHz

In case you are one of the new guys and don’t remember what a transceiver is, it is amplifier that accepts a 70 MHz signal from one of the old-style modems, and because the transceiver has a built in up and down converter you don’t need additional frequency converters. Traditionally they were made in C-Band or KU-Band.

Another huge advantage of 70MHz connection is that the cables are cheap, and the signal loss is low. If you wanted, you could put a modem in Florida and the transceiver on the moon and as long as you get the cable that far it would work.

Perhaps that is a slight exaggeration, but signals of low frequency are much easier to carry than their higher frequency brothers.
