CPI TL02UO 250W KU-Band BUC TWTA we purchased two of these at a good price and discovered that they are not working and will be sold for parts only.

The curious thing about these amplifiers is that a label on the amplifiers says “Not to exceed 50W of RF Output” We normally take time to discover the reason for a failure, but in this case we already have a quantity of new Advantech 50W BUCs and see no purpose of spending time on this CPI BUC if the output is limited to 50W.

During initial testing we couldn’t communicate with the amplifier due to Ethernet problems and therefore could not enable transmit mode.

We contacted CPI to get price on new card but were informed that they were out of stock. CPI said to buy it directly Digi-Key. CPI part SDC, Net Burner CCA 104166500 or Digi-Key mfg. part # MOD5282-100IR

We did not buy the card because we have 20 new Advantech 50W BUCs on hand and saw no point getting another 50W BUC operational.

Summary:

Also asked CPI about the tube VTU6299E1 and they said it’s 250W Peak and 50 W CW. Frequency 14.0-14.5 GHz. The BUC in the unit is a Tampa Microwave 01045604-00All that being said, we don’t know if the Ethernet card is the only problem, so we are selling the unit for parts with no returns.
